PARRA: Two persons sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident at Brittowado, Parra, after their Honda Activa scooter was allegedly hit by a car travelling from Nagoa towards Mapusa.
According to a complaint filed by Head Constable Samir Munankar of Mapusa Police Station, the accident occurred on October 3, 2026, at around 7.15 am.
Police said an unidentified driver of a car bearing registration number GA-03-Y-9695 was allegedly driving rashly and negligently. Near Faiz Decor at Brittowado, Parra, the car allegedly moved towards the extreme right side of the road and collided with an oncoming Honda Activa bearing registration number GA-03-BD-1517, which was travelling towards Nagoa.
The collision seriously injured the scooter rider, 42-year-old Mahmed Kalim Manihar of Colvale, and pillion rider 39-year-old Ayub Idrishi of Brittowado, Parra.
Following the accident, the car driver allegedly fled the spot with the vehicle without providing medical assistance to the injured or informing the police.
The complaint was registered at Mapusa Police Station on October 4 at around 8.55 pm.
Police have launched an investigation to identify and trace the driver involved in the hit-and-run. The investigation is being conducted by Head Constable Samir Munankar.
