Protect Goa from BJP’s Misrule: K C Venugopal during Rakhan Yatra*

Panaji: In a scathing attack, AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal on Wednesday described the BJP as a “Chori Sarkar” that has destroyed democracy through various means.

He was speaking on the second day of the Goy Rakhan Yatra at Priol and Cumbarjua.

GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Freedom Fighter Libia Lobo Sardesai, AICC Goa Incharge Manikrao Thakare, Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLAs Altone D’costa and Carlos Ferreira, MP Viriato Fernandes, Working presidents MK Shaikh, Sunil Kawthankar,RGP President Shavina Shirodkar, Media and Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panajikar and others were present. Thousands of supporters also joined the Yatra.

Venugopal said the yatra aims to protect Goa from BJP’s misrule. “We will take people’s suggestions and ideas into consideration to give them a government they deserve. Nobody is happy with this BJP government. This is a Chori Sarkar,” he said.

He added, “Indians love Goa very much. But BJP is selling Goa. We cannot sit idle anymore. We must fight against its misrule. Youth are unemployed, but the government does nothing. This loot Sarkar should be thrown out.”

Venugopal assured that the Congress party would ensure quality education for students and employment opportunities after graduation.

He accused the BJP of “destroying democracy through various means, using the Election Commission and its chairman to kill democracy.”

He further stated that Section 39A is being misused to finish Goa, and Congress would scrap it after coming to power.

Chodankar said the BJP is frustrated by the overwhelming response to the yatra. “Along with selling Goa’s lands, the BJP government is responsible for the collapse of law and order. It has failed in all aspects. Privatisation is depriving Bahujan Samaj students of education. The time has come to show BJP the door,” he asserted.

Thakare added that the so-called “double engine” government has failed completely. “Unemployment is rising in the state, and the BJP government is least bothered. We must defeat BJP to eradicate this issue.”

Yuri Alemao criticized the BJP for spending ₹700 crores on events. “We are trying to protect Goa from BJP’s corruption. We will not allow this government to sell Goa,” he said.

RGP President Shavina Shirodkar emphasized that governance must reflect people’s will. “Today corruption is rampant. Our employment and lands are in danger. This is not the Goa we dreamed of. We want a Goa free from all forms of corruption,” she said.
