MARGAO: A 38-year-old man was found dead at his residence in Rumdamol, Davorlim, Salcete, in a suspected suicide, police said.
The incident came to light on September 21, 2026, after SGDH Margao received information at around 11.08 pm that Uday Harijan, a resident of Rumdamol, had been brought to the hospital in an unresponsive condition.
According to police, family members found the door of his room locked from the inside. After gaining entry, they found Harijan unresponsive and shifted him to SGDH Margao in a 108 ambulance. The duty doctor subsequently declared him brought dead.
During the preliminary inquiry, police said financial difficulties linked to unemployment and pending loan repayments appeared to be the reason behind the incident.
Police conducted the required UD occurrence and inquest panchanamas. The body has been preserved at SGDH Margao for further medico-legal formalities.
