Curchorem, Goa: Former GPCC President Amit Patkar has raised concerns over the growing drug menace in Curchorem, alleging that the town is fast becoming Goa’s “drug capital” under the BJP government.
Patkar said he interacted with educational institutions in the area and claimed that serious concerns have been raised regarding the safety of children and young people’s exposure to drugs.
Announcing a sustained anti-drug awareness campaign, Patkar said the initiative will begin in Curchorem in October and will subsequently be extended across Goa.
“Our children should carry books and dreams, not live under the shadow of drugs. No drugs around our children. No compromise on their safety,” Patkar said.
Patkar said the campaign will focus on creating awareness among students, parents and communities about the dangers of drug abuse
