SATTARI: A 25-year-old student of the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) was allegedly attacked with a knife by another student inside her hostel room at the institute’s campus in Poriem, Sattari, police said.
The incident reportedly occurred around 2.45 pm on September 5, 2026, inside Room No. 2205 of Hostel No. 2.
According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Sukanya Sabbhani (26), allegedly entered the room while the complainant was sleeping and attacked her with a knife. The complainant sustained injuries to her neck and hands, resulting in significant bleeding.
The injured student was identified as Umme Aiman (25), a native of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Sabbhani, also a GIM student, is originally from Hyderabad.
The complainant further alleged that the accused threatened her with dire consequences, including an alleged threat to kill her.
Following the complaint, Valpoi Police Station registered Crime No. 42/2026 under Sections 109 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the alleged attack and are also probing the motive behind the incident.
