PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa has issued notice to the Village Panchayat of Candolim over the alleged failure to implement a demolition order concerning an alleged illegal construction in the village.

The matter was heard by the Division Bench on August 5, after a writ petition (WP No. 768/2026) was granted urgent circulation. The Court directed the Candolim Panchayat to file its affidavit in response.

According to the petition, the Deputy Director of Panchayats passed a demolition order on September 21, 2021. However, the petitioner claims that the order has not been executed despite several years having passed.

The petitioner has sought directions from the High Court for implementation of the demolition order and enforcement of the decision taken by the competent authority.

The petition has also raised concerns over the prolonged delay in executing statutory orders relating to alleged illegal constructions and the responsibility of public authorities to ensure compliance.

The case will be taken up further after the Candolim Panchayat submits its response before the High Court.
