PANAJI: The Goa College of Fisheries Science is set to get a dedicated campus as the state government moves ahead with plans to strengthen fisheries education and research in Goa.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a meeting at Mahalaxmi in Panaji to review the establishment and operationalisation of the proposed college.
The meeting discussed key requirements, including land, infrastructure, facilities, staffing and faculty, along with the construction of a dedicated college building.
A proposal to transfer 2.6 hectares of land under the Veterinary Department for construction of the new campus was also taken up for discussion.
The proposed college is aimed at strengthening fisheries education and scientific research while creating skilled human resources for Goa’s fisheries sector.
Sawant said the initiative would help build academic and technical capacity in fisheries and contribute to the long-term development of the sector in Goa.
